Coach Leo and Polar
Polar connects directly to Coach Leo through Polar AccessLink, so a Polar runner does not need a Strava account in between. One thing to know before you connect, because it changes how the first weeks feel: Polar does not hand over your past workouts. Only sessions synced after you connect come through.
Read-only
What you need — A Polar watch and a Polar Flow account. No Strava required.
What Leo reads
- Workouts synced after you connect: distance, duration, pace, heart rate and elevation
- Sport type, so cross-training is counted rather than ignored
How the sync works
Each time your watch syncs with Polar Flow, the new session becomes available to Leo. There is no backfill step — the first workout you sync after connecting is the first one Leo sees.
What it does not do
- No training history. Polar AccessLink does not expose past workouts, so Leo starts with an empty diary and builds from your next run forward. If you want Leo to work from months of history on day one, connect Strava instead.
- Read-only. Polar's API offers no way to send a structured session to the watch, so session push is not available — Suunto is the only source that supports it.
One source at a time
Leo reads one activity source at a time. Strava, Suunto, Polar and your phone's health store all carry the same workouts — a health store is fed by the same watch — so connecting a second one would duplicate every outing and leave you unable to tell which source Leo is actually reading. Switching sources takes two clicks on your connections page.
Your data
Authorised through Polar's own consent screen and revocable at any time. Revoking removes the workouts imported from Polar.
Your data, already in sync.
Coach Leo starts from the runs you have actually done — not from a questionnaire. Connect your source and get a plan built on your real training.

Frequently asked questions
Why does Coach Leo show no history after I connect Polar?
Because Polar does not transmit it. AccessLink only delivers sessions synced after the connection is made, so your diary fills up from your next run onward. This is a Polar platform limit, not a bug on our side.
Can I use Polar and Strava together?
No — Leo reads one activity source at a time, because both would carry the same runs and duplicate every outing. If your Polar already syncs to Strava, connecting Strava gives Leo your full history and is usually the better choice.
Can Leo send my session to a Polar watch?
Not today. The Polar integration is read-only. Session push to the watch currently works with Suunto.
